Probably one of the most important things to bring on your hike is a form of navigation. Whether that be a compass, altimeter, or topographic map, any of these items will help give you a sense of direction in your endeavors. First-aid Kit
A first-aid kit should be brought on every hike. It’s more efficient to create your own kit as opposed to buying a pre-made kit so that you can cater it to your specific needs. A good first-aid kit should include adhesive bandages of varying sizes, disinfecting ointment, a pair of disposable sterile gloves, sterile gauze pads, pain medication and some sort of a treatment for blisters.
Bring lots of water
Staying hydrated is so important. The second your body becomes thirsty, then it’s already too late, you’re already dehydrated. On a hike, your constantly losing bodily fluids through respiration and perspiration. If you are not sufficiently replacing those lost fluids, your body will eventually become dehydrated. Some symptoms of dehydration to look out for are dizziness, dry mouth, and fainting. Seeking medical attention may be necessary if symptoms progress and serve dehydration occurs. The best way to prevent this from occurring is to simply drink water slowly throughout the entire day. So, do not forget to bring at least three liters of water with you on your hike.
Multitool
A multitool or repair kit is handy for equipment repair, opening food cans, first aid or other emergency uses. Multi-tools are a convenient thing to pack because they are lightweight, compact and they’re efficient.
