This exclusive Hoover Dam Grand Canyon Combo Tour combines our Original Mini Hoover Dam Tour with a one hour air plane tour over the Grand Canyon.
You’ll start you tour with a ride takes you along the winding and breathtaking road to Hoover Dam where you’ll have two hours to explore, plenty of time to take in the Power Plant Tour included in your tour price. Check out the museum and the exhibit areas, the power plant 500 feet down, watch a movie on the damn’s construction (during which 114 men died), and see Oskar J.W. Hansen’s renown sculptures on the Nevada side commemorating the building of Hoover Dam, and, in his words, the building genius of America.
Hoover Dam, standing 700 feet high, is more than a concrete edifice. Built to harness the power of the Colorado River, the dam is one of the largest in the world, is greater in volume than the largest pyramid in Egypt, and produces more than 2,000 megawatts of hydroelectric power, supplying Nevada, California, Colorado and Arizona with a significant portion of their energy. In 1935 the construction costs topped $49 million—$676 million in today’s dollars.
